Ramkumar-Myneni pair wins in Bangalore Open

Ramkumar Ramanathan continued his doubles dream, winning his third title of the year, as he and Saket Myneni beat French pair of Hugo Grenier and Alexandre Muller 6-3, 6-2 to win the Bengaluru Open ATP Challenger on Saturday.

The pair were ruthless that day, especially on serve, winning 36 of 41 service points. A single break in the first set (4th game) and two breaks in the second set (1st and 7th game) were enough as the Indian pair looked to win.

lack of energy

His French opponents lacked energy, with Müller looking particularly tired. It was his second match of the day, having played his singles semi-final in the afternoon.

The trophy was Ramkumar’s seventh in doubles on the Challenger Tour – second in Bengaluru – and Myneni’s ninth.

Myneni said, “It feels great to win on home soil. “Ram has had a great year so far and he is playing with great confidence. Hopefully it will show up in his singles later on.”

“We are happy. We executed our plans well from the start, got our fundamentals right and played some aggressive tennis, which we both love to do,” said the 34-year-old.

Sunday’s singles final will be between Chun-Sin Tseng of Chinese Taipei and Croatian qualifier Borna Gozo. Chun-sin was down a break in the first set and his rival Enzo Koukaud also had two set points at 5-3. But the 20-year-old made an impressive comeback on the surge to reach his third Challenger singles final.
