New Delhi: Independent MPs Navneet and Ravi Rana recited Hanuman Chalisa at the Hanuman temple here on Saturday and claimed that they prayed to remove the biggest threat looming over Maharashtra in the form of Shiv Sena. The couple were arrested on sedition charges last month and released on bail 12 days later after they were called to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s residence in Mumbai.
Dressed in a saffron sari and accompanied by her husband and several supporters, Independent Lok Sabha member from Amravati Navneet Rana walked from her North Avenue residence to offer prayers at the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place. The biggest threat looming over Maharashtra is Uddhav Thackeray. Navneet told reporters outside the temple, “I have come to offer prayers to save Maharashtra from this menace.
The Rana couple also performed aarti in the temple. The temple visit comes on a day when Thackeray is scheduled to address a huge rally in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Navneet Rana accused the Shiv Sena of leaving the Hindutva issue by joining hands with the Congress and the NCP to grab power in Maharashtra. Uddhav Thackeray has forgotten the legacy of Balasaheb Thackeray. Balasaheb was the real guide of Hindutva, he is a copycat, he said in response to questions on Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s remark that the time has come to show the real style of Shiv Sena.
Navneet Rana challenged Thackeray to take action against those who offered prayers at Aurangzeb’s grave instead of targeting him for his support for Hindutva. AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi offered prayers at the tomb of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb in Khuldabad near Aurangabad in Maharashtra.
Continuing the attack on Shiv Sena, the Rana couple said that they will uproot the Shiv Sena’s Lanka of corruption from the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, where elections are due. The Shiv Sena has been holding the reins of power in the country’s richest municipal body Mumbai Municipal Corporation since 1996.
The fight for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation is keenly watched as it has an annual budget of over Rs 30,000 crore, which is more than some of the smaller states in the country.
