Rare white tiger cub found abandoned on Greek Street: Animal Park

Greece’s major animal park said Wednesday it has recovered a rare white tiger cub found abandoned on a nearby road earlier this week.

The Attica Zoological Park outside Athens said the four-month-old female cub, which was found under a dustbin near the compound, was paralyzed from the waist down.

“Nobody knows where it came from or how it got here,” Jean-Jacques Lesueur, the park’s founder, told Proto Thema daily.

“It’s in terrible condition,” he said.

The conservation group World Wildlife Fund (WWF) describes white tigers as a “genetic anomaly” that has no existence in the wild.

They are often the result of inbreeding, which makes them prone to many health problems at birth.

The park says that it hosts over 2,000 animals from 290 different species.

It was criticized last year when an alpha male chimpanzee escaped from its enclosure during operating hours, and was subsequently shot for public safety reasons.
