A large number of rats are roaming around the ‘Ratna Sinhasan’ and idols at Puri’s Jagannath Temple, causing problems for devotees.

Senior serviceman Satyanarayan Pushpalak said, ‘The increasing number of rats and cockroaches is a matter of concern. This has been conveyed to the temple administration many times before. So the temple administration should take immediate steps.”

Another sevadar Bhagwan Panda said, “If this situation continues in the temple, the structure of the holy trinity will be at risk.”

Administrator Jitendra Sahu said: “We are taking all precautionary measures to control rats and cockroaches as per rituals. There is no danger to the structure of the sibling gods.”

According to another sevadar, small bills have formed between the cracks on the floor, which has become a headache for the sevadars as well as the administration.
