Reasons why you should be using facial oil – Times of India

People generally dazzle even at the thought of seeing or knowing the sight of oil anywhere around the face. Mainly because of the misconception that oil on your face will result in acne and other oil related problems that you will have to struggle with throughout your life, but moisturizers either do not help especially in winters or if you have natural Moderately mild to moderately dry skin. Or for that matter, any amount of hydration will get you back to square one. why you may ask? Because all these beauty products only moisturize and hydrate the top layer of your skin, from where it is very easy for moisture to escape.

On the other hand, we do not want toxic chemicals to leak out from our skin in the name of hydration and cause other skin problems. Plus, not all serums are for all skin, so how do we know which serum is right for your skin? So here’s a compilation of nature-based facial oils that people with different skin needs can cherry-pick.

Before that, let’s look at what are the general aspects to look for when it comes to fragrance.

1. Generally people do not like the smell of extracted oil like coconut or mustard oil. So going for oils like lavender will not only smell good but will also remove bacteria and be lightweight.

2. The method of extraction becomes important to consider because it is based on the presence of fatty acids, and other dusts can be determined. Here the weight of the oil is also decided.

3. It is important to pay attention to the shelf-life as some essential oils tend to oxidize over time, thus not being effective enough for the skin. It also depends on the fatty acids present in the oils.

Every facial oil contains three ingredients: carrier oil, essential oil and an antioxidant. A carrier oil will be the body of your product, while an essential oil will give off a pleasant, luxurious scent. An antioxidant will help the fat in the oil not go rancid.

Now choose the oil based on your skin type and needs.

For dry skin: Facial oil with olive squalene and fractionated coconut oil works wonders for dehydrated and chapped skin.

For Normal Skin: Hemp oil will give the much needed and adequate hydration to the skin, as well as maintain the natural oil level in the skin.

For anti-aging skin: Marula oil, rosehip oil and vitamin E drops help tighten the skin, thus preventing collagen from becoming elastic.

For oily skin: Argan oil and evening primrose oil removes excess oil from the skin and prevents acne formation.
