Documentary filmmaker and editor Reena Mohan has been selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award for documentaries in connection with the 14th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFK) to be held in Thiruvananthapuram from August 26 to 31.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present the awards at the opening ceremony of the festival at Kairali Theater in Thiruvananthapuram on August 26.
The award consists of ₹2 lakh, a memento and a citation. The festival will retrospectively showcase nine of his films. Movies directed by Reena Mohan- Kamla Bai, skin deepAnd on express highwayand edited by Mati Mansi (Director: Mani Kaul), Babulal Bhiyu’s sacrifice (Director: Manjira Dutta), A bridge hangs in the forest (Director: Sanjay Kak), beautiful city (Director: Rahul Roy), and dreaming taj mahal (Director: Nirmal Chander).
A graduate of FTII, Pune, Reena Mohan has directed around 10 documentaries, edited several features, edited more than 50 documentaries and a television series. His first documentary, Kamla Bai (1991), won the National Award. In 2000, he won the National Award for Best Cinematography for his work in Sanjay Kak’s film a bridge hangs in the forest,
Anand Patwardhan was the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award instituted in 2018. Madhushree Dutta and Ranjan Palit were honored in later years. Representative registration for the festival can be done online through www.idsffk.in.
