REET 2023: Candidates caught solving paper before exam, Internet services shut down amid fears of REET paper leak

In 11 districts of Rajasthan, it was decided to keep internet service closed on 25 February and 26 February.

The Rajasthan Subordinate and Ministerial Services Selection Board (RSMSSB) started the REET 2023 exam yesterday, February 25. A group of persons were caught solving question papers at a marriage hall in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur when the police intervened. 37 suspects were taken into custody regarding teacher recruitment exam.

In 11 districts of Rajasthan, it was decided to keep internet service closed on 25 February and 26 February. These districts include Alwar, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Kota, Sriganganagar, Tonk and Udaipur. This decision was taken as a preventive measure to ensure that the REET exam is conducted fairly and without any malpractices. Whereas on February 27, 2023, internet service will remain closed in Jaipur from 6 am to 6 pm.

According to reports, officials of Special Operations Group (SOG) at Shrimati Kamla Devi Budhia Government Higher Secondary School, Jaipur have caught a dummy candidate. In place of a candidate from Jhunjhunu, a dummy candidate from Barmer was found appearing in the REET exam. Similar incidents have also come to light from a school in Amer.

REET 2023 exam is being conducted to fill around 48,000 vacancies for third grade teachers in Rajasthan. To facilitate the smooth conduct of the examination, the state government has taken steps like providing free bus travel and free metro ride to the candidates. As per the schedule, the REET exam will be conducted in two shifts – morning and afternoon. The timing of REET Mains Exam 2023 is from 9:30 AM for morning shift and 3 PM for afternoon shift.

A major controversy had erupted after the paper of the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers-(REET) to be held in September 2021 was leaked and the exam was cancelled.
