Punjab Assembly on Monday witnessed a heated exchange between Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa after the Congress leader questioned the functioning of the State Vigilance Bureau.
Participating in the debate on the motion of thanks to the governor’s address on the second day of the budget session, Bajwa referred to AAP MP Raghav Chadha’s statement on Sunday in which he targeted the BJP government at the Center and accused it of misusing central investigative agencies. Mann said, “You cannot give such a statement that AAP’s flag should be hoisted in the vigilance office.”
Bajwa then asked the chief minister why he had not taken action against former AAP minister of state Fauja Singh Sarairi and the “delay” in arresting Bathinda Rural MLA Amit Ratan Kotphatta.

Bajwa asked Mann about AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s claim during the state assembly elections last year that Rs 20,000 crore would be received from the sand mining sector.
Bajwa asked Mann, “How much money has been made so far?”
Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira made some remarks against the Chief Minister, following which members of the ruling party protested.
