Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka also demanded a CBI inquiry into his death. “If our FIR is not registered, we will not allow the postmortem examination to be conducted. Goa Police has not started any investigation. There is no postmortem inquiry and we would have left the state, but nothing happened,” Dhaka said on Wednesday. “If the police continue to behave like this and do not register an FIR, we will do the postmortem at AIIMS in Delhi or Jaipur,” Dhaka said. ,
Police confirmed that the autopsy was not conducted due to the family’s demand to register Phogat’s death as a murder case. He also said that representatives of the National Commission for Women have reached Goa and visited the hotel where Phogat was staying. Director General of Police Jaspal Singh told TOI that the interrogation proceedings are on keeping in mind the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.
“The local police are probing the cause of death but are not proceeding as the family insisted on registering a murder case first. However, there are no prima facie circumstances to do so,” Singh said. “Any delay on the part of the family to proceed with the postmortem examination will only delay the process of justice. ,
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said, “Preliminary investigation has revealed that Phogat died of cardiac arrest. The matter is being monitored by the DGP.”
Dhaka, however, is convinced that her sister’s death was a “premeditated murder”.
“I have come to Goa and based on the interrogation I have done, it is not a normal death but a premeditated murder. I have lodged a complaint, but till now no FIR has been registered. They (police) are telling me that first postmortem will be done and only then FIR will be registered. He said, ‘I demand that the CBI investigates and my sister gets justice. I believe that his personal assistant and another person are involved in the case. Their planning was going on for the last two days. ,
Dhaka also said that Phogat had spoken to her, her sister and her mother before she died. “After talking to her, it was clear that she was in danger, and that anything could happen to her at any time. We asked him to keep his distance and come back. We told them that we will take police action against them.” She told us that there was something mixed in her food and that her hands and feet were going numb, due to which she was restless. The murderers were with her the whole time. Phogat had not informed the family about his Goa travel plans.
