Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his desire to leave the English club to compete in the Champions League, reports The Times newspaper.
Speculation was rife about the Portuguese forward’s future at the Manchester club after another disappointing season, which resulted in United not qualifying for the upcoming year’s Champions League competition.
The report comes despite new Manchester United manager Eric ten Haag expressing the fact that Ronaldo is a part of his plans for the Dutchman’s first season in the Premier League.

The report also said that the Portuguese captain thinks he can compete at the top level of European football for the next three or four years.
Ronaldo made his historic return to the Manchester club from Italian giants Juventus in August 2021 and has been a saving grace during Ralph Rangnik’s tenure in England.
The prolific forward was responsible for United’s 24 goals in all competitions last season.
Ronaldo, who played for Spanish giants Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018, where he achieved a lot both personally and as part of the illustrious Real Madrid team.
United finished the season in sixth place, having missed out on Champions League qualification as the unit faced heavy criticism.
Ronaldo could attract interest from a host of clubs, with Bayern Munich looking at the striker as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandowski if he chooses to move to new pastures.
He is also expected to return to Serie A with Juventus. But, nothing seems concrete right now.
Ronaldo’s first spell at United between 2003 and 2009 proved to be a spectacular one as the forward lifted the Ballon d’Or in addition to multiple league titles and the Champions League trophy.
However, his second term did not go as planned. As United finished outside CL locations, lots of new recruits.
Ronaldo is known as the King of the Champions League for his impressive performances in elite European competition.
