Republic Day Celebrations: A senior Indian Air Force official said that 50 aircraft will take part in the Republic Day celebrations and this will also include the Navy’s IL-38, which will be displayed for the first time and probably the last time at the event.
He said that the IL-38 is a maritime reconnaissance aircraft of the Indian Navy which has served for almost 42 years.
“It will be displayed here for the first time and probably for the last time during the Republic Day celebrations. It will be among the 50 aircraft that will take part in the event,” said an Indian Air Force official.
He said that four of the army would also be involved in these 50 aircraft.
At a press briefing in the national capital, the Indian Air Force also unveiled a model of the IAF tableau, which will be displayed during the January 26 parade.
This will be the first Republic Day function to be held on the formal main road after Rajpath was renamed as Kartavya Path last year.
