RINL’s hot metal production reaches all-time high in April with annual growth of 20%

New Delhi: State-owned Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) registered its strongest ever performance in April with a production of 4,19,000 tonnes of hot metal, up 20% over the same period last year.

The achievement is attributed to the operation of two blast furnaces, with Blast Furnace-1 producing 202,000 tonnes of hot metal, and Blast Furnace-2 producing 218,000 tonnes of hot metal.

In addition, RINL’s Structural Mill registered impressive growth by producing 61,000 tonnes of products, which is more than double the production during the same period last year.

The steelmaker also reported production of 143,000 tonnes of finished steel from expansion units including Wire Rod Mill-2, Special Bar Mill and Structural Mill.

Production of high-end value-added steel also increased significantly, reaching 80,000 tonnes, registering an increase of over 100% from the same period last year.

RINL also set new technical benchmarks with the Blast Furnace Shop reporting a productivity of 2.09 Tonnes of Hot Metal per Day per Cubic Meter from both Blast Furnace-1 and Blast Furnace-2 during April 2023.

Blast Furnace-1 and Blast Furnace-2 have also recorded productivity of 2.01 and 2.17 Tonnes of hot metal per cubic meter per day respectively, which shows the highest performance achieved by RINL for any month of April since its inception.
