Kantara star Rishab Shetty added another feather to his cap. The actor has been honored with the Most Promising Actor Award at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award 2023, Times of India India informed of. The actor has been given the award for his stellar performance in the Kannada film last year. Kantara was not only appreciated by the critics but also emerged as the biggest all-India blockbuster of 2022, receiving immense love from the fans.
Directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, Kantara revolves around a Kambala champion who has a tussle with a forest official. The film was praised for the performances and for retaining the nuances of the traditions shown including the ghost kola artist. The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2023 will reportedly take place on February 20 in Mumbai.
The film recently completed 100 days of its release. On this occasion, Rishabh announced Kantara 2. Rishabh shared that what the audience has just seen is actually part 2 and hence what will be released next is a prequel to Kantara. Hinting about the release date, the actor also revealed that the film is likely to hit the theaters in 2024.
“The idea struck me when I was shooting for Kantara as it has more depth in its history, and currently, we are in the middle of digging into more details as far as the writing part is concerned. Since the research is still in progress, it is too early to reveal details about the film.”
Rishabh also made headlines earlier this week after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with KGF star Yash and some other prominent Kannada stars. Speaking about the meeting, Rishabh took to Twitter and wrote, “Inspirational meeting PM @narendramodi as we discussed the role of Entertainment Industry in shaping new India and progressive Karnataka.
