Rishi Sunak, who is running for the post of Prime Minister of Britain, was seen performing cow worship in London with his wife Akshata Murthy. Videos and photographs of the ritual have drawn praise from Indians living in the UK.

The couple can be seen worshiping the cow and performing aarti. This comes after Sunak posted pictures of his Janmashtami celebrations at the Bhaktivedanta Manor temple.

Sunak had earlier won hearts of Indians living in Britain when he celebrated Diwali last year and lit diyas (oil lamps) at his official residence.

Earlier, amid reports of rival Liz Truss leading the race for the Prime Ministership against Rishi Sunak, Indian diaspora organized a havan to ensure their well-being and victory.

The Indian diaspora is one of the largest ethnic minorities in the UK, with some 1.5 million people, which is about 2.5 per cent of the total population. It is estimated to contribute about 6 percent to 2.5 percent of GDP.

The Grant Thornton annual tracker for 2022 indicated that the number of Indian companies has increased from 805 to 900 over the previous year, thus raising revenues to £54.4 billion, up from £50.8 billion in 2021. Sunak is part of this success story. The Indian diaspora which is now attracting some attention.
