Naib Court head constable Rajiv was injured in Thursday’s blast, causing panic among lawyers and the public, raising questions over the security arrangements there.

Police said the blast took place inside court room number 102 which belongs to Metropolitan Magistrate Prituraj.

Sources said the powder recovered from the spot appears to be ammonium nitrate, however, it has been handed over to the National Security Guard (NSG) which will ascertain more details about the substance.

Prima facie it appears that the explosives were kept in a tiffin inside a laptop bag. Battery parts along with power cables were also recovered from the spot. He said it appeared that a battery was used for the explosion.

Sources also said that the explosives contained shrapnel. But it looks like it was not assembled properly and just the detonator exploded.

Meanwhile, the police checked the CCTV footage of the three entrances for two hours (8 am to 10 am) and found that around 250 cars entered the court on the day of the incident. The owners will be called for questioning.

Police said that they are checking all the CCTV cameras installed in the court premises.

According to court officials, there are around 75 cameras in the Rohini court complex. However, there are no cameras inside the corridor and room number 102 where the incident took place. Cameras have been installed at the main gate, court hall area and police post.

The matter relating to alleged illegal storage and distribution of COVID-19 drugs by Gautam Gambhir Foundation and two AAP leaders is listed before Metropolitan Magistrate Prituraj.

He adjourned the hearing of the case till February 7, 2022.
