The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday 26 January announced the Indian squad for the home ODI and T20I series against West Indies. India will play 3 ODIs in Ahmedabad from 6 February and the same number of T20 matches in Kolkata from 16 February.
Rohit Sharma, who missed India’s tour of South Africa due to a hamstring injury, returned to lead the ODI team and the T20I squad. Former captain Virat Kohli is part of both the ODI and T20 squads for the West Indies series.
The BCCI said vice-captain KL Rahul will be available only from the second ODI of the 3-match series starting in Ahmedabad from February 6.
Rohit passes mandatory fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after which he attended the selection meeting with the senior selection committee.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested from both the series while the left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav back in ODI team
Washington beautiful, Joe, who missed South Africa’s ODIs after contracting Covid-19, is part of both the teams for the home series.

R Jadeja is in his final stages of recovery after a knee injury and will not be available for ODIs and T20Is.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was dropped from the ODI squad earlier this month after a stellar performance in three matches in South Africa. Senior spinner R Ashwin is reportedly unavailable for the West Indies series due to injury.
Ravi Bishnoi gets his first call, misses Ravindra Jadeja
Ravi Bishnoi, The one who played for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League got his first call-up for both ODIs and T20Is. Bishnoi was selected for IPL 2022 by Lucknow Super Giants, the new franchise owned by RSPG Group.
Deepak Hoodawho has done well in the domestic season, gets an ODI call-up.

Left-arm spinner Axar Patel has returned to the T20 squad after being ruled out of the South Africa tour due to injury.

Rohit was appointed India’s ODI captain in December last year after Virat Kohli was sacked, but the captain was not able to travel to South Africa due to an injury. After the T20 World Cup, Rohit was appointed India’s T20 captain after which Kohli resigned from the top post.
In Rohit’s absence, India were led by KL Rahul in South Africa, but the star batsman’s captaincy came into question as India lost the ODI series 0-3. Rahul remains the vice-captain of the ODI and T20I squads for the West Indies series.
