Rourkela (Odisha), June 12 (PTI) on Thursday, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) of SAIL said that it has commissioned a state -of -the -art Laddle Furnace 2D (LF#2D).
A bodle furnace is the second unit used to refine the melted steel after being produced in a primary furnace.
This was commissioned at steel melting shop-II on Wednesday.

The company said in a statement that this achievement outlines the RSP’s commitment to a strong culture of technical modernization, increased productivity and safety.
The new operational LF#2D is an important feature that will greatly promote productivity by ensuring timely and efficient supply of liquid steel to the new slab coaster along with existing people.
With additional charge of Durgpur Steel Plant and IISCO Steel Plant, RSP, RSP director Alok Verma said, “Steel is not the only one we make-this is what we are. RSP is actually proud of everyone’s honest and hardworking efforts.” He also congratulated everyone associated with the project for the successful commission of LF#2D.
LF#2D is a state-of-the-art feature equipped with a 30 MVA furnace transformer, a water-cooled ladle roof, a hydraulic ceiling-up system, advanced electrode handling assembly, and a mechanized feroli feeding system.
