Royal Enfield is all set to launch the new Scrum 411 on 15th March. Essentially a stripped-back version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan, the Scrum 411 will go up against the new Yezzi Scrambler.
The Scrum loses the Himalayan’s windscreen, and instead of the tubular metal structures around the fuel tank, it gets a smaller fuel tank shroud. It also gets a metal headlamp cowl which is different from the Himalayan. Changes have also been made to the seat and side panels.
The instrument console is also different, featuring a large off-set speedometer and a smaller tripper navigation display. The Scrum also gets a different rear grab handle design and does not feature the ADV-style beak fenders seen on the Himalayan.
The bike is also expected to be available in a choice of bold new colors. Mechanically, the Scrum is likely to have the same 411cc, two-valve, SOHC air-cooled motor that makes 24hp and 32Nm in the Himalaya, though there could be some minor tuning differences. The main chassis is likely to be similar, but the Scrum will likely drive a smaller 19-inch front wheel as against the 21-inch wheel on the Himalaya.
One result of the smaller front wheel is that the Scrum claims 200 mm of ground clearance as against the Himalayan’s 220 mm. On the positive side, the scrum is likely to be slightly lighter than the 199kg Himalayan. When launched, the prices could start from around ₹ 2 lakh mark.
