An investment of ₹ 1,338 crore is set to flow into Rajasthan after signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 11 Japanese companies. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has called upon Japanese companies to invest in areas like Barmer Petrochemical Complex and skill development.

Mr. Gehlot and the Ambassador of Japan to India Satoshi Suzuki were present at the signing ceremony of the MoU held at Daikin Japanese Institute of Manufacturing Excellence at Neemrana Industrial Area in Alwar district on Thursday.

Mr Gehlot said Japanese investments are a “source of inspiration” for entrepreneurs in the state.

The concepts of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and the Freight Corridor were devised as a framework for Japanese investment during the visit of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Japan in 2005. The Japanese territory in Neemrana is also part of the DMIC. Shri Gehlot said that DMIC projects are to be set up at six locations in Rajasthan.

The investments made as a result of the MoU will generate employment opportunities for over 2,270 people in various sectors, while the state government will extend its support to Japanese companies to open skill development centres.

Mr. Suzuki said the number of Japanese companies operating in the state was only 10 in 2008, which increased to 170 in 2021. “India and Japan share fundamental values ​​like rule of law and democracy. The relationship between the two countries is called the Special Strategic and Global Partnership.

One of the 11 companies that have signed the MoU is going to invest in Ghiloth Industrial Park, which will be the first investment by a Japanese firm in the area falling in Alwar district. Other investments will be made in Neemrana and Chhapariya ki Dhani in Pali district.
