Rajya Sabha members on Wednesday asked the government to probe allegations of irregularities in the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) and Level 1 examinations of the Railways, which led to violence in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh last month. Raising the issue in the Rajya Sabha during Zero Hour, NCP’s Fauzia Khan said the recruitment process of railway exams has exposed the deeper issues of unemployment and a failing education system.
Protests were held in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh by railway job candidates against alleged wrong results of Railway Recruitment Board’s Non-Technical Popular Categories (RRB NTPC) exam. Khan demanded that the overall issue of unemployment, particularly in Bihar, should be looked into.

He demanded, “The irregularities alleged by the students in this examination should be investigated and corrected.” BJP’s Sushil Kumar Modi said that first an examination from Group-D was announced. But suddenly it was announced that there would be two examinations. He said that there is no need for two exams as Group-D exam is not a selection for IAS and IPS.
AAP’s Sanjay Singh demanded an inquiry into the results declared by the Railways. He also demanded that the FIR lodged against some protesting students be withdrawn.
