To expedite testing and strengthen medical facilities, the Jammu and Kashmir Health Department has set up the first Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing laboratory at the Government District Hospital, Udhampur. The RT-PCR test detects the presence of viral RNA and is the most recommended test for detecting influenza-like symptoms and infection in persons suffering from COVID-19. Locals lauded the central government and union territory administration for installing RT-PCR testing machines in the hospital.
