Russia, contesting four UN committees, lost one of them to Ukraine, a decision seen on the global stage as Moscow’s isolation.
Elections were held on Wednesday to fill various vacancies in subsidiary and related bodies in the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
Russia was contesting for the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations, the UN Women’s Executive Board, the UNICEF Executive Board and the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
“Russia participated in 4 elections to @UN committees today. It lost in all of them. UN membership is isolating Russia and standing with Ukraine,” tweeted the United Kingdom mission to the UN.
