Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple in Kerala will reopen for Atta Chitra Puja today. The temple was closed on October 21 after the monthly pujas were completed.
The temple will reopen for the two-month Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season starting November 15.
Devotees will be allowed only on the basis of virtual booking system. They have to submit either their double dose vaccination certificate or RT-PCR negative certificate before entering the temple.
‘Thula month’ is the monthly prayer in the month ‘Thulam’ according to the Malayalam calendar.
In another related development, Kerala reported 5,297 fresh COVID-19 cases and 368 related deaths, taking the caseload to 49,73,954 and the death toll to 32,049, the state government said on Monday.
With 7,325 more people recovering from the virus since Sunday, the total recoveries rose to 48,64,506 and active cases reached 76,786, an official press release said. Of the 368 deaths, 78 were reported in the last few days, 232 were such that were not confirmed till June 18 last year due to lack of sufficient documentation and 58 after receiving an appeal based on the Centre’s new guidelines on COVID-19. was designated as death. and directions of the Supreme Court, the release said.
