Sachin performed brilliantly to lead Patna Pirates to a 34-28 win over Gujarat Giants in a Pro Kabaddi League match at Shree Shivchatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi near here on Monday.
Sachin emerged as the best player for Patna with 13 points in the match.
As the Pirates took a 4-2 lead in the sixth minute, Sachin got some raid points. Rohit Gulia also joined the party and helped the Pirates reduce the Giants to three players on the mat.
Soon after, Patna’s side was all out in the 10th minute to take a massive lead at 10-5. However, moments later, Partek Dhaiya pulled out a super raid and kept the Giants in the game.
But, Rohit continued to collect raid points as the Pirates got their stronghold of the match 15-9. Thereafter, Sachin made a multi-point raid in the 16th minute to help Patna extend their lead.
The Pirates continued the ruckus and scored another all out just before half-time to take a 21-13 lead.
Gulia continued his stellar run in the second half as Patna team dominated the match 23-15. The Pirates’ defense unit, led by Captain Neeraj Kumar and backing their attackers, helped the team move forward.
Rakesh from Gujarat made some brilliant raids but he could not help his team catch Patna.
The Giants restricted the Pirates to three members on the mat in the 38th minute, but Sachin made a brilliant raid to help his team maintain the lead.
Patna’s side played carefully in the last minute and eventually registered a comprehensive victory.
