Samsung Galaxy S21 FE launch canceled due to chip shortage, Z Flip3 sales: Report

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will not be unveiled in October as planned as the South Korean tech giant has reportedly canceled the launch event. Moreover, Samsung is also rethinking its plans to launch the device as the semiconductor shortage shows no signs of abating.

The device was expected to be launched at the Unpacked event in August, but was later set aside for the standalone launch event. Now a report by Korean news outlet DDaily has claimed that samsung has canceled next month’s Galaxy S21 Fan Edition (FE) Unpacked.

The primary reason for canceling the launch event and possibly skipping the Galaxy S21 FE altogether is the widespread semiconductor shortage that has affected everything from electronics to autos. Production at Samsung is still not up to the order.

increasing sales of Galaxy Z Flip 3 This is also a factor, the report said, as Samsung needs more parts to meet demand. The popular folding phone uses the Snapdragon 888 chipset, the same processor the Galaxy S21 FE was expected to feature.
