samsung is planning to start the open beta testing phase for One UI 5.0 based on update Android 13 till July 2022. According to SamMobile, this update will give beta testers and the South Korean tech giant plenty of time to hone the new firmware as it plans to release it to the public in late 2022 or early 2023.
Google launched Android 13 Developer Preview earlier this year. However, Samsung was yet to release any preview builds based on the upcoming update.
Considering Samsung’s intentions to enter the testing phases for Android 13 around mid-summer, a possible July deadline for the open beta version could also be extended. Many Galaxy devices, including smartphones and tablets, will be eligible for the public version of the upcoming One UI 5.0 update once they exit the beta phase.
Traditionally, newer and higher-end devices would be given priority over others to receive updates. So, it can be assumed that the first Galaxy phone to get Android 13 is likely to be the recently released Galaxy S22 series or the upcoming foldable devices – Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4.
However, it is important to note that apart from One UI 5.0, Samsung is developing One UI 4.1.1 for its upcoming foldable phone in parallel. Still, One UI 5.0 will be more widely available than the One UI 4.1.1 update, which is likely to remain exclusive to some devices. If you don’t consider the beta build, One UI 4.1.1 will be the first update to hit the market.
