samsung Not long ago, the support cycle for both these devices has surprised Galaxy S8 and S8+ users with an unexpected software update. The Korean smartphone giant released the last security update for its 5-year-old devices in September 2021 and now it has rolled out yet another security patch for these devices.
SamMobile reports that the firmware update version is codenamed G95xFXXUCDUK1 and has been released in France with the possibility of expanding to more markets in the coming days. The new security update addresses several security and privacy issues.
If you own a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ and are a resident of France, you may have already been notified about the new update. If you haven’t received the notification yet, you can install the update manually by going to Settings and then Software Update and selecting the Download button to install it. You can also use the firmware database to download and flash a new firmware file
Samsung launched both the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in 2017 and came with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. The device received Android 8.0 in 2018 and One UI update based on Android 9 Pie in 2019. Having the latest security updates on your phone is always a good thing, but Samsung has no plans to release a major OS update for these devices, so no one should get their hopes up for Android 10 or 11.
