Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the statue of Sardar Patel at Canada’s Sanatan Mandir Cultural Center will not only strengthen cultural values but will also become a symbol of India-Canada relations.

PM Modi said, “The statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai in Sanatan Mandir will not only strengthen our cultural values but will also become a symbol of relations between the two countries.”

PM Modi said that this statue is a replica of the Statue of Unity, which acts as an inspiration for India.

“After independence, Sardar Patel renovated the Somnath temple to remind India of its thousands of years old heritage in a new light,” he said.

“An Indian can live anywhere in the world for generations but his Indianness and devotion to India does not diminish in the slightest. Whatever nation he lives in, he serves him faithfully. Gone is the democratic values and sense of duty. Lives in a corner of his heart,” he said.

“This happens because India, apart from being a country, has a great tradition, ideological establishment, a stream of culture. It is a supreme thought that speaks of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. It does not dream of its upliftment at the cost of the loss of others. It prays for the welfare of the whole world.”
