A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala, which decided to hear the plea on April 24, also stayed the direction of a single judge bench of the high court, which also included TMC leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Kuntal Ghosh was the accused. The matter may be probed by the ED and the CBI, and such “inquiry should be done at the earliest”.

“The petition was in the mentioned list. Dr. AM Singhvi has advertised the contents of the order and directions passed by which ED and CBI have been directed to file a report in connection with the investigation in respect of a public speech. Abhishek Banerjee Listing on April 24, 2023. Till the next date of listing, all proceedings in respect of the directions contained in the impugned order against the petitioner shall remain stayed,” ordered the apex court.
The Calcutta High Court had passed a series of directions on April 13, asking the police not to register FIRs against officials of the CBI or ED, which are probing the West Bengal Kendriya Vidyalaya Service Commission and the West Bengal Educational Recruitment Scam. have been without the permission of the Board of Primary Education.

It had asked central agencies to probe the role of state TMC leaders in the case.
Senior advocate AM Singhvi, appearing for the TMC leaders, sought urgent hearing of the plea challenging the High Court order in the matter.
The high court was hearing a petition related to alleged irregularities in the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff in schools sponsored and aided by the West Bengal government.
The High Court had said that Ghosh could soon be questioned by central agencies along with Mr Banerjee.
