An owner of Ola S1 Pro set his scooter on fire after facing several problems with his scooter since taking delivery three months ago
Dissatisfied with the scooter’s performance and uncertain range, an owner of Ola Electric S1 Pro in Tamil Nadu set his scooter on fire. This is the first such incident when a scooter owner set his own vehicle on fire. A video of the incident has surfaced on Sun News, in which the owner is seen pouring petrol on the scooter on the side of the road before setting the scooter on fire.
While we don’t have all the details, reports say, the owner, Dr Prithviraj was unhappy with the scooter’s performance and erratic range. Prithviraj took delivery of the electric scooter 3 months back and faced problems with the model on three separate occasions. In the latest and last incident, the scooter, reportedly on a full charge, went out of range in just 44 km. Angered by facing these issues with the scooter, the owner poured petrol on the scooter and set it on fire.
This is the second incident this week when an Ola scooter owner has gone a dramatic way to express his frustrations. Recently a boss in Maharashtra paraded his scooter being pulled by a donkey And the city of Parli is covered in banners asking people not to trust the company. The owner was disappointed with the lack of response from the company after the scooter reportedly broke down a few days after delivery.
While the company is moving forward with its plans develop a new electric car, still many issues are coming out regarding its electric scooter. There have been complaints and incidents ranging from the build quality of the scooter without warning to engaging in reverse mid-ride, for one instance of a roadside scooter catching fire in Pune.
