Since the pandemic, one pastime that has gained popularity is baking. People found a strange comfort in the baking process which was actually one of the simplest cooking methods. All you have to do is put the ingredients together, mix or twist them and pop them in the oven to get amazingly delicious results. Even though the baking process is fairly beginner-friendly and simple, there are many factors that can affect how the final product turns out. This includes mixing techniques, baking temperature, the time for which it has been baked, and whether it is allowed to cool after baking, among other factors. But did you know that the type of baking pan you use can also affect your baking? The video was shared on Instagram Reels by @benjaminthebaker, where it garnered 193k views and 15.8k likes. “The type of baking pan you use makes a difference in the end result of the dessert,” he explained in the caption. He clarified the difference with three types of desserts – cookies, cakes and brownies. As for cookies, Benjamin explained that cookies baked on a darker tray or pan will have a crisp, brown edge while lighter ones will come out soft. Meanwhile, for cakes, you’ll end up with a smaller cake with a more rounded and browned edge in the case of a deeper pan. Similarly, for brownies Also, the edges and corners will be slightly tougher when baked in a darker tray than a lighter colored one.
Instagram users and bakers were quite intrigued by Benjamin’s insight. Many of them expressed their gratitude for sharing their knowledge through their informative videos. “Dark pan for cookies and light pan for brownies (to my personal taste). Will remember this! Thanks man, you are a genius,” wrote one user. Another user said, “I thought the difference largely came from the material (eg glass vs metal), but now it’s over metal?? Good to know.”
It’s not the only interesting cook Insight shared by blogger. Recently, she shared some tips for using a toothpick to find out if your cake is baked.
