TDP national president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday questioned ruling YSRCP MPs as to who was responsible for the “serious” financial crisis in the state.
Naidu demanded the YSRCP MPs to explain whether the misrule of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had damaged all sectors of the economy and put the state in the dark. The MPs had said in the Parliament that the Andhra Pradesh government in the state is not even able to pay salaries to the employees.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP chief blamed the YSRCP government entirely for the overall decline in the state. “Neither the CM nor his party MPs tried to get special status, Polavaram fund or railway zone. He did not raise his voice against the privatization of Visakha Steel Plant. The situation became so pathetic that even the Prime Minister spoke on the problems of ongoing reorganization in Parliament,” Naidu said.
Naidu said the betrayers of the ruling YSRCP have caused serious harm to the people of Andhra Pradesh in every way. In just 32 months the standard of living of all classes of people became very poor. Above Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 additional burden on poor families. The poor kept getting poorer while the ruling YSRCP leaders were getting richer by filling their pockets with easy money.
The TDP chief regretted that Jagan Mohan Reddy’s selfishness and lack of leadership awareness had pushed the state into darkness. Intellectuals, mass organizations and general public should think about the future if this Chief Minister is allowed to continue this destruction for a long time.
Chandrababu Naidu cautioned that eventually, the burden of unchecked loans made by the Jagan regime will fall on the poor people as well. “Consequently the AP governments Rs. 3.14 lakh crore loans for over 66 years till 2019. This was as per the CAG report. Now, CM Jagan has increased the state debt to Rs. 7 lakh crore in less than three years. It was not clear where all this money was spent,” Naidu said.
The TDP chief said that there is a debt of Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. Right now 6 lakhs were hanging on each family. The treasury was always empty. The government had to repeatedly obtain way and means advances and over drafts from the RBI. Jagan Reddy was selling public property as if he was the last chief minister of the state.
Naidu accused CM Jagan of continuing to betray his lies, which is causing trouble to employees, farmers, unemployed youth and all sections of the society. How can the Chief Minister accuse TDP of instigating the employees? It was Jagan Mohan Reddy who promised to cancel the CPS within a week of coming to power. He had also promised to fill 2.3 lakh government jobs at the time of elections.
Strongly criticizing the YSRCP regime, Chandrababu Naidu said that his party MLC Ashok Babu was arrested only after the government employees announced their support for the strike. “The TDP extended its support only because injustice was being done to the employees in the fitment. Employees were calculating what they were missing in the current PRC. The fitment recovery was proposed in their retirement benefits, which was unjust,” he said.
Naidu expressed surprise how CM Jagan created problems for the film industry and now offered to solve them. Never before this kind of game has been played with the film industry. Similar attacks were made on the judiciary, the media and all constitutional institutions.
The TDP chief criticized the YSRCP regime for using digital corporations to attack and victimize the judiciary. “Teachers were targeted and their service was used at liquor shops during the Covid pandemic. Now, the rowdy sheets were being opened. The CM was under the illusion that he can rule like a dictator in our democracy,” Naidu said.
