Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone Atlee’s jawan left for Chennai to shoot. It was earlier reported that Deepika Padukone has been roped in for a cameo in the film. On Sunday, a video of Deepika and Shah Rukh landing in Chennai surfaced online. Chances are that Nayanthara, who has just spent a vacation in Europe with her husband Vignesh Shivan, may join them.
Shah Rukh and Deepika maintained a low profile in the video. He was seen greeting the crew outside the airport. Shahrukh’s manager Pooja Dadlani and director Atlee were also seen in the video.
In June this year, a source told Hindustan Times that Shah Rukh will play a double role in the film. He is set to play the role of a father and son, with Deepika playing the role of senior Khan’s wife and Nayanthara double as Jr Shah Rukh’s girlfriend.
“Padukone has a powerful character in Jawaan, with Shah Rukh playing a dual role as a father and son. She plays the role of Shah Rukh’s wife and starred in the flashback sequences of the film. It is a small but very important role, which serves as a significant difference to the plot,” claimed the insider.
A source also told Pinkvilla that Shah Rukh and Atlee went to Hyderabad and met Deepika, where she was shooting for Project K with Prabhas, to offer the role. The insider claimed that the role is small but important. “Deepika has been in talks with Shah Rukh and Atlee for some time now and she is all set to play a small but important role in the film. She has agreed in principle, though the paperwork still remains,” Grapes claimed at the time.
Jawan is slated to release in June 2023. Apart from this, Shah Rukh has also returned to Pathan with Deepika and John Abraham and Dunki with Taapsee Pannu.
