Shah Rukh Khan on Pathan is the first film to be shot at Burj Khalifa Boulevard

Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham Pathan breaking box office records and garnering critical acclaim worldwide. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film set a new benchmark for action films in Bollywood. However, shooting the high-octane action sequences was not easy. That too in Burj Khalifa Boulevard, Dubai. It was “stopped for the first time,” for the one and only Shah Rukh Khan Pathan, After all, he is the brand ambassador of Dubai. Team Pathan, on Thursday shared a BTS video from the sets of the film in Dubai. The video shows how the “toughest action” scene between SRK and SRK Pathan and John’s gym was shot in the “luxurious Dubai Boulevard” according to the producers. Siddharth Anand, known for action films like War and Bang Bang, reveals where the sequences are Pathan and Jim fighting on a moving train, “with planes in mid-air” and on the boulevard around the Burj Khalifa were the most difficult to shoot.

“The most difficult action to execute Pathan – One is on top of a moving train, one is in mid-air with planes, one is in Dubai which happens to be in the boulevard around Burj Khalifa (where Jim shoots down the helicopters), which no Hollywood movie has been able to do . Shooting this sequence in Dubai seemed impossible. But the Dubai Police and authorities made it possible for us,” the director said in the video.

The scene in question begins with a high-speed car chase, where Jim is standing in the middle of the road and aims Pathan’s Vehicle. They then fight atop a speeding truck as two helicopters hover above them.

Siddhartha said, “My friends, who live in Boulevard, came and told me that they have got a circular on this day, between this time, you will not be able to reach Boulevard, so please plan your days. And they were surprised.” That oh my god… it’s for my film! The director then thanked the Dubai Police and the authorities for their unwavering support.

In PathanIn the film, SRK plays a covert ops agent while John Abraham plays the antagonist and former RAW agent Jim. Deepika Padukone plays the role of ISI agent Rubai.

Shahrukh Khan described the experience of shooting in Dubai as “amazing”. He said, “Dubai has been very kind to me, to me and to everyone who has gone through Indian cinema. The production team called the executives and said, ‘We are shooting a scene with Shah Rukh,’ and they said, ‘No, no, please go ahead, he is our brand ambassador. Please take permission for this, complete it quickly but we will allow you to shoot it. I think Dubai is the most international film producing country in terms of film industry…It’s always a great experience shooting in Dubai.’

Action director Casey O’Neill, who has worked in films like Jack Reacher and TOp Gun: Maverick, collaborated with Siddharth Anand for Pathan. He talks about shooting high-decibel action sequences in Dubai Boulevard with John Abraham in the clip.

Pathan It has emerged as the highest grossing film in Bollywood. The Hindi version of the film has so far earned over Rs 436 crore in India. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film’s total collection at home has reached Rs 452.95 crore.

Pathan It was released in cinemas on 25 January.
