Shamshera box office collections: Ranbir Kapoor-Sanjay Dutt starrer continues to decline

Shamshera Box Office Collection: Ranbir Kapoor The film failed to garner the kind of love and support that the audience and critics were expecting. After lavish promotions and an interesting trailer, the film could not bring the audience to the theatres. The film, which released in theaters last Friday, marked a return to Ranbir Kapoor’s films after 4 years. Over the weekend, the Bollywood film collected Rs 31.75 crore and the subsequent weekdays saw a huge drop. Reportedly, Shamshera got into an accident on its second Friday as he spent around Rs. 50 lakhs.

While the film has been declared a flop, Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor’s Shamshera faced stiff competition from the newly titled Ek Villain Returns, directed and starring Mohit Suri. John abraham, Disha Patani, Arjun Kapoor And Tara Sutaria, who got off to a fair start, judging by the circumstances and Kichha Sudeep’s Vikrant cry. Shamshera’s numbers are dwindling steadily, and the film barely earns Rs. 40 crores. Sanjay Dutt’s post on Shamshera called a flop

Sanjay Dutt, who played the antagonist, Daroga Shuddh Singh in Shamshera, wrote a long note expressing his displeasure over the response the film was getting. Sharing a long note, he captioned it, “Shamshera is ours!” As director Karan had earlier captioned his post “Shamshera is mine!”

He also defended the cast of the film including Ranbir Kapoor. He wrote, “Films are the work of passion – the passion to tell a story, bring to life characters you’ve never met before. Shamshera is a labor of love that we gave our all. It’s a film made of blood, Sweat and tears. It’s a dream we have brought on screen. Movies are made for the audience. “Shamshera found that a lot of people were hating it. Some of the hate came from people who didn’t even see it. I find it horrible that people don’t respect the hard work we put in. I am a filmmaker. I admire Karan as a character, and mostly as a person. He is one of the best directors I have worked with in my career spanning over four decades. He has a knack for delivering characters that strike a chord. Alapate hai. We did this with Agneepath, where he gave me kancha chena to play. The process of working on it was fantastic. He trusted me again with Shamshera and what a ball of a time we did Made this film, and brought Shuddh Singh to life,” he said.

She further wrote, “Karan is like family and success or failure aside, it will always be an honor to work with him. I will always stand by him.”

Meanwhile, Shamshera, produced by Aditya Chopra under the YRF banner, released in theaters on July 22 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
