Actress Shefali Shah, who is essaying the role of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi for the second season of ‘Delhi Crime’ recently spoke about the show. The actress shared details about the depth of the show and the characters.

Talking about the show, the actress said that the grain of the show is that it is very real and raw. She shared that the characters aren’t super cops and the moment she wore the uniform for her character, she grew tall.

During the promotion of the show in the national capital, Shefali said: “The grain of the show is that it is very real. It is very raw. They are not super cops, they are human beings. Their strengths and weaknesses are a part of them.”

The actress added: “The show doesn’t make a social commentary but raises social questions, and all these people are part of that society. So they equally understand where they are stumbling.”

Wearing the uniform for the second time for the show, Shefali’s hair stood up. The 49-year-old actress said, “That uniform does something for you. Trust me. Wearing that uniform becomes something else. When we were about to do Delhi Crime 2, the only thing going through my mind was that the first installment happened but how do I fit those shoes again. How will I ever be able to do it?”

She continued: “And believe me, when I stepped into those shoes, it was something else. I walked tall and had respect for that uniform… the people on set gave you a way to actually walk. To be able to wear. Even for a show is something else.”

When asked how the portrayal of the police in ‘Delhi Crime’ differs from what is typically seen in mainstream films and series, Shefali replied to a question asked by IANS during a press conference: “There is a Bhupinder . , Neeti, Subhash and Vartika. They are the real characters. They are not larger than life, they never were. They are human beings, and they are not super cops. They are not completely right or wrong.”

“They are trying to tackle a situation to the best of their abilities. I think it’s very different. Not only the portrayal of the police, the show itself is very raw. It’s almost like watching it visually,” Shefali nods.

The show will hit Netflix on August 26. It also stars Rajesh Tailang and Rasika Duggal in lead roles. It is directed by Rajesh Mapuskar and Tanuj Chopra.
