Sheriff: 2 small planes collide in the air near Denver, 3 killed – Times of India

Longmont: Two small airplanes collided in mid-air Denver On Saturday, three people died, officials said.
It was not known what might have caused the crash between the four-seat Cessna 172 and sonex xenosA lightweight, aluminum, homebuilt aircraft that can seat two people.
Nearby residents heard the crash and ran outside, they told NBC Ally 9News in Denver they were surprised that planes could collide with each other on such a clear morning.
One of the planes crashed into a field, the other into a tree stand, near Vance Brand Airport in Longmont, Colorado, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) north of Denver. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said two people were found dead in one rubble and another in the other.
Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating. NTSB Said that the preliminary report would be issued in about 15 days.
The collision happened just before 9 a.m. on Saturday. The identities of the victims were not immediately released.
