Shilpa Shetty grew this fruit in her garden and is now happy to pluck it

Some of which he has planted in his garden for a steady supply. In a recent Instagram post, Shilpa Shetty said that she loves plucking fruits. But which one?

The post contained a video that showed Shilpa plucking sour-sweet starfruit, also known as carambola, a superfood. In Hindi, it is called “kamarakh”, and has five-angled ridges, due to which it received the moniker “starfruit”. The 46-year-old wrote, “It’s amazing when you plant with your hands, and it grows into a tree and bears fruit… nothing beats that feeling.”

Shilpa Shetty talks about the benefits of eating starfruits. It is rich in Vitamin C and thus boosts immunity. It is also a great source of antioxidants and minerals such as potassium and copper. The actress said that adding a little pink salt to it makes it taste even more wonderful. But, he cautioned that people who have any kidney related disease should avoid it.

“Everybody knows my passion for plucking fruits. So I couldn’t resist anymore and started doing some ‘fruit plucking’ in my garden yesterday,” said Shilpa Shetty.

Starfruit contains both primary and secondary polyphenols, which are known to promote digestion and brain health. These fruits are also known for their anti-microbial properties, and hence help in treating skin infections. Some eat it raw, some add it to fruit salad or make pickles and chutneys.

This yellow-green treat grows locally in the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asian countries, the Seychelles, Mauritius, and other tropical regions. Although some Believe It is originated from Sri Lanka, where it is called Kamaranga.
