In Maharashtra, a clash broke out between the ruling party MLAs and the Maha Vikas Aghadi MLAs on the steps of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Wednesday when the former were opposing the previous government led by Uddhav Thackeray.
The BJP and the faction of CM Eknath Shinde protested against former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aaditya Thackeray in the assembly premises, saying that they have compromised with Hindutva for power.
He also alleged corruption in the previous MVA government as well as in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), where the Shiv Sena is in power.
Apparently targeting Uddhav and Aaditya Thackeray, a banner read, “Raja stayed indoors for fear of Covid-19 while Yuvraj’s friends looted the treasure.”
Eknath Shinde camp assault From Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress. The three parties have accused the Eknath Shinde camp of “betraying” the Shiv Sena in exchange for BJP’s money and power.
In response to the opposition, the Eknath Shinde camp decided to hold a protest in the assembly premises.
Some MLAs of Shinde faction tried to snatch the carrot garland worn by NCP MLA Amol Mitkari when the government and the opposition MLAs clashed. The two sides virtually fought until some legislators from both sides intervened and defused the tension.
The MLAs kept raising slogans for some time before leaving to attend the day’s session.
Shinde camp MLA Bharat Gogavale told reporters that the opposition MLAs should not have come near him when he was protesting.
He added, “They started arguing first. When they protested for so many days, we didn’t interfere.”
Eknath Shinde along with 39 other Shiv Sena MLAs rebelled in June, leading to the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. Later, Shinde took oath as the Chief Minister on June 30 with the support of the BJP. Since then, there has been a war of words between the opposition and the ruling coalition.
