Police said Friday that the suspected killer of former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe admitted to targeting him and said they were against an organization they believe the politician was linked to.
A senior police officer in Japan’s Nara region told reporters: “The suspect said he complained against a particular organization, and he committed the crime because he believed former Prime Minister Abe had links to it. ” ,
Doctor says Abe died
A doctor at the hospital where Abe was being treated before Abe’s death on Friday said the former prime minister was bleeding profusely and “bleed to death”.
The doctor said Abe had bullet wounds in his neck and that they were deep enough to reach his heart.
Explosives found from suspect’s house
Japan’s national broadcaster NHK reported Friday that “potential explosives” had been found at the home of a man arrested in connection with Abe’s murder.

Police raid suspect’s house
National broadcaster NHK reported Friday that Japanese police raided the home of a suspect arrested in connection with the shooting of former prime minister Shinzo Abe.
NHK footage showed several police officers entering a building identified by the broadcaster as the suspect’s home. Police officers were seen wearing helmets and body armor and wearing protective gear.
Abe attacker arrested
Police said a 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of shooting. NHK’s public broadcaster quoted the suspect, identified as Tetsuya Yamagami, as telling police that he was dissatisfied with Abe and wanted to kill him.
The report said the suspect had served in the Maritime Self-Defense Force for three years in the 2000s and appears to have made the gun himself.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said China was “shocked” by the “sudden incident”.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said she was afraid of an attack on Abe.
Former US President Donald Trump, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah are among other current and former world leaders who expressed grief over the shooting of Abe.
