The Panama-flagged cargo ship Felicity Ace, carrying about 4000 Volkswagen Group cars, caught fire earlier this week on February 16 near the Azores Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Volkswagen Group’s hit comes at a time when the company, along with most of the automotive industry, is already facing production constraints due to supply chain issues, including the pandemic labor crisis and semiconductor chip shortages.

Porsche estimates that about 1,100 of its vehicles were aboard the Felicity Ace at the time of the fire.
