The city police have advised the shops to remain closed till 8 pm for two days as a precautionary measure.

Hyderabad:

The arrest of suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh by Hyderabad Police under the Preventive Detention Act has led to the closure of shops in several areas under Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad, Telangana. Some supported the jailed MLA and opposed his arrest, while others protested fearing violence and disturbances. The city police have advised the shops to remain closed till 8 pm for two days as a precautionary measure.

The Hyderabad Police Commissioner told NDTV that there was no selective use of the law, which is why they were arresting T Raja Singh by registering a case against the protesters who made provocative statements.

Syed Abdahu Kashaf, who calls himself a social media influencer and in the video ‘attached to head‘ (beheaded) slogans, was arrested and later released on bail.

Today the most focus is on Friday prayers when there is a possibility of trouble. Large deployment of security forces will be done to ensure peace.

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has appealed to the people not to indulge in any activity that disrupts peace and harmony. He said the disturbance would be seen as a victory for the BJP.

Before being arrested, T Raja Singh had put out a video blaming Telangana minister KT Rama Rao for allowing Munawwar Farooqui’s show in Hyderabad due to which he had created a communally bad atmosphere in the city.

Mr Singh said that both the TRS and the BJP hope that there will be political gains by creating these disturbances.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asked the people of the state to choose between Pentala Telangana (Green Telangana) and Mantala Telangana (Telangana on fire). He said the BJP was doing divisive politics to create unrest in the state and hinder development.

The court has allowed BJP state president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay to continue his padyatra. The third phase of Praja Sangram Yatra was to end with a public meeting addressed by BJP national president JP Nadda on Saturday, but police permission has not been given for this.
