Palghar (Maharashtra): The Shraddha Walker murder case has shocked the country. Sources said that Shraddha was allegedly murdered by her live-in boyfriend Aftab Amin Poonawalla, who cut her body into 35 pieces. According to the latest update, Delhi Police will soon write a letter to the ‘Bumble’ dating app, seeking information about Aftab’s profile. Further investigation into the gruesome case revealed that the accused met a woman through Bumble after the murder and brought her to his house in Chhatarpur, while the remains were still kept in the refrigerator, informed sources said. Investigators said the police team is scanning his phone to get more information. “He was using her Instagram account to avoid any suspicion from his friends,” an official said. Based on the complaint of the father of the deceased
Aftab was arrested on 12 November for the murder of Walker on 18 May. He had dumped the remains in the Mehrauli forest area over a period of 18 days. Meanwhile, Shraddha’s friend – who is from Palghar in Maharashtra – spoke about her and said that initially, the couple lived happily, but things turned sour between them and she wanted to break up.
Speaking to ANI on Monday, Shraddha’s friend Rajat Shukla said, “Today suddenly news of her murder flashed on mobile. I was shaken to the core of my soul that my friend has been murdered. I told that they were in a relationship since 2018. They lived together. Initially, they lived happily, but then Sharda started saying that Aftab beats her. She wanted to leave him but could not do so.” Rajat said that it had become “very difficult” for him to come out of that relationship, adding that “his life had become like hell”. While shifted to Delhi, it was decided with their mutual consent that they would take up a job. There. After we shifted to Delhi, we almost lost contact with him.”
Lakshman Nadir, another friend of Palghar’s Shraddha, elaborated on the circumstances under which he approached the police. “He contacted me two months ago. He hasn’t replied to any of my messages since August. His phone was switched off. That’s when it became a matter of concern for me to start reaching out to people. There was no update, so I finally told his brother that I last spoke to him in July. So it is better that we reach out to the police and take their help,” he said. He said that the couple used to have a lot of fights due to which they agreed to approach the police at once, however out of respect for Shraddha’s feelings, they decided against it. “He used to have a lot of fights. The fight was to such an extent that he texted me on WhatsApp and asked me to take me somewhere that night. He said that if she had stayed with Aftab that night, he would have killed her.” We friends had kicked him out of his house that night and had also warned Aftab that we would approach the police. But out of respect for Shraddha’s sentiments, we said that we will not approach the police as she told us not to do so. ,
