Three persons, including a sub-inspector of police, a woman police constable and a computer operator of a cooperative society, were found dead in a tank under mysterious circumstances at Adloor Yellareddy village in Kamareddy district in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, prompting a detailed investigation.
The incident left the local police baffled as the death of the trio and recovery of their bodies close to each other in the tank were shrouded in mystery.
The deceased were identified as Bhiknoor SI Saikumar, constable Shruthi attached to Bibipet police station, and computer operator Nikhil of Bibipet.
The trio had gone missing separately since Wednesday afternoon prompting their family members to approach the police. Based on phone signals, police traced the mobiles of Shruthi and Nikhil lying on the bund of the irrigation tank late on Wednesday night.
A search operation was launched under the direct supervision of Superintendent of Police Sindhu Sharma. Shruthi and Nikhil’s bodies were retrieved on Wednesday midnight. A few hours later, the body of Saikumar was recovered from the same tank, police said. The car and footwear of Saikumar were found near the tank bund.
The family members of Saikumar suspect that he may have drowned in the tank while trying to rescue the duo from drowning. However, police remained clueless about the exact cause of death, till reports last came in.
Earlier, speaking to the media at the incident site, Ms. Sharma said, “It is too early to say anything on the exact cause of death. It is most unfortunate and a case of unnatural death has been registered and a detailed investigation is under way,” she said, adding that the autopsy report and statements of the family members of the deceased will help ascertain what could be the reason for their deaths.
