Bathinda: Late Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu surname Sidhu Musewalafather of Balkaur Singh has vehemently refused to contest the upcoming elections from Sangrur Parliamentary Constituency, He has asked people not to believe several posts about political leaders in social media, stressing on the need for them to be unanimously nominated.
Denying any such possibility, Balkaur Singh said that even the heat of his son’s cremation has not cooled down that people are asking him to contest elections. He also asked people to gather at Mansa for the bhog ceremony of Sidhu Musewala on June 8, when he would hold detailed talks with them.
Earlier, Balkaur Singh along with his wife Charan Kaur met the Union Home Minister. Amit Shah At Chandigarh airport and reiterated his demand for a probe into the murder of his son from some central agency, preferably the NIA. In a 12-minute meeting with the Home Minister, an emotional Balkaur Singh told him about the murder and threatened his son with gangsters to gain fame.
Earlier, he had written to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to get a sitting High Court judge investigated with the help of NIA or CBI.
The demand for a probe by the central agency has gained momentum after the Chief Justice refused to conduct a probe into the matter.
Earlier, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Congress Legislature Party leader Partap Singh Bajwa, Delhi leader Paramjit Singh Sarna, agricultural economist Sardar Singh Johal had stressed on the need to make him a unanimous candidate.
Sidhu Musewala was shot dead by miscreants in Jawaharke village of district Mansa on the evening of May 29, when he along with two of his friends was on his way to visit his ailing aunt in a village near Mahindra Thar.
The attackers in several cars including Bolero, Scorpio, Toyota Corolla and Maruti Alto surrounded them and opened indiscriminate fire.
