The United Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of farmers’ organizations opposing the three agricultural laws, has demanded an inquiry into “allegations of conspiracy to sabotage the movement through promoting profanity and unrest by hurting religious sentiments”.

“From the media reports from the victim’s village and family, it appears that he was receiving mysterious calls, which he used to take secretly. The victim, Lakhbir Singh, is believed to have told his sister that ‘her reach has now increased and gone too far’. After a wedding in the village, he is believed to have gone with someone in the attire of a Nihang Sikh and has since landed with a Nihang group in the Singhu border. All this information points to some kind of deeper conspiracy, as the SKM has been pointing out.

“The rest are mutilations and abrasions caused by blunt weapons. The report attributed the death to hemorrhagic shock,” said Virender Singh, deputy superintendent of police, law and order, Sonepat.
