A video has surfaced on social media in which a saffron-clad Hindu monk can be heard publicly calling for abduction and rape of Muslim women in Uttar Pradesh amid a crowd of people chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ . Sitapur. The police have started investigation based on the viral footage.
The Mahant, who is identified as Mahant Bajrang Das of the local temple, said, “If any Muslim man goes after Hindu women, I will abduct and openly rape Muslim women in public.”
Sitapur is about 100 km from the state capital Lucknow.

Further, he alleged that a conspiracy was hatched to kill him and a reward of Rs 28 lakh was placed on his head.
The journalist said the video was shot on April 2 but “no action was taken by the police even after five days”.
Replying to his tweet, Sitapur Police said that investigation has been started and a senior officer is probing the matter.
