Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, a senior minister in the Bhagwant Mann cabinet, threatened that action would be taken against the Sukhvilas Spa Resort owned by SAD chief Sukhbir Badal as part of the ongoing anti-encroachment drive.
With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) targeting the top leadership of the Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab, the opposition party triggered a political slugfest alleging a “witch hunt” by the Bhagwant Mann government to hide its “failures”. Is. In front of law and order.
Mann was threatened by Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, a senior minister in the cabinet, that action would be taken against the Sukhvilas Spa Resort owned by SAD chief Sukhbir Badal as part of the ongoing anti-encroachment drive.
“We will take action against the owners as the resort has been built in violation of norms,” Dhaliwal said.
The state government did not stop at this. It has reconstituted the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the drugs case against former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia. The Mann government was facing criticism for not making any progress in the case.
IGP (Patiala range) MS Chhina will now head the SIT in place of DIG-cum-Vigilance Bureau director Rahul S. The orders in this regard were issued by the Director, Bureau of Investigation, Punjab Police.
However, the other members of the SIT will remain the same. These include AIG rank officers Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Raghbir Singh (DSP, STF, Rupnagar) and Amarpreet Singh (DSP, Kharar-2). IG Gursharan Singh Sandhu will continue to monitor the progress made by the investigation team.
This is the second time that the SIT probing Majithia’s alleged role in helping drug peddlers has been reconstituted. Majithia was booked in December 2021 during Congress rule. The first SIT was headed by AIG Balraj Singh. After the AAP government was formed in the state, AIG Balraj was removed and IG Rahul S was appointed. However, the SIT failed to present a challan against Majithia.
Earlier, Majithia had claimed her innocence and said that the police did not have any evidence against her due to which she could not present any challan. The SAD has accused the Mann government of doing politics of neither presenting the challan nor dismissing the case. There was nothing new in this as the AAP government was forcing the officials to obey its stand, he said. It is part of a political vendetta,” the senior Akali Dal leader alleged.
The party has also challenged the AAP government to take over the ‘Sukhvilas’ project if it has any concrete evidence of any wrongdoing. The Akali Dal accused the AAP of raising non-issues to divert attention from its abysmal failures on all fronts.
“There is not an iota of truth in the statement being issued by Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal. The project has not violated any law of the land. There is no illegality involved in the construction of the project.
