Snapdragon: Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 announced; Upcoming mid-range Android smartphones to power – Times of India

Like its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will be seen in the upcoming mid-range Android Smartphones. And this is the first Snapdragon 7 series chipset that comes with Qualcomm’s 7th Generation AI Engine and supports 200MP sensor.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1’s octa-core Kryo CPU comes with a Cortex-A710 Prime core clocked at 2.4GHz, 3x Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and 4x Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.8Ghz. The CPU inside the hood is paired with Adreno GPU with Snapdragon 778G inside giving 20% ​​better performance than its predecessor. Plus, the new GPU can deliver double the frame rate while maintaining the same power consumption as the 778G. The chipset comes with support for up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 gets the Snapdragon X62 5G modem, with download speeds of up to 4.4 Gbps on 5G connectivity on stand-alone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes. And there is WiFi 6e with Bluetooth 5.3, which brings support for Snapdragon sound and aptX support.
The 7 Gen 1 comes with Qualcomm Spectra Triple ISP that supports 200MP photo capture and 4K HDR video recording. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 powered phones will be capable of capturing 10-bit HEIC photos and HEVC videos.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 powered phone is expected to launch in the next few weeks.
Oppo is likely to be the first company to launch a smartphone powered by the processor. The company’s Oppo Reno 8 Pro+ is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The phone will launch on May 23.
