Saha claimed that BCCI president Ganguly had allegedly assured him a place in the team in a WhatsApp chat after he scored an unbeaten 61 against New Zealand in the first Test at Kanpur in November.
Now Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) secretary Snehasish Ganguly, who is the elder brother of BCCI president Sourav, lashed out at Saha, saying the wicketkeeper probably made a mistake of judgment by publicly commenting on a private conversation.
“After scoring 61 against New Zealand in Kanpur, Dadi (Ganguly) congratulated me on WhatsApp and said, ‘As long as I am here (handling BCCI), you will be in the team’. Such a message from BCCI President Really boosted my confidence. I am struggling to understand how things have changed so fast,” Saha was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
Seeing the comments in the media, CAB secretary Snehasish Ganguly said that Saha should not have made public his private conversation with the board president.
“It’s my personal opinion, but what he (Saha) was told was private. He probably shouldn’t have made it public. Besides, he could have played Ranji Trophy, He cited personal reasons for opting out and we have to respect that. Whenever he wants to join the team, the door is always open for him,” Snehasish Ganguly was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
On 19 February, Saha triggered a controversy after she posted WhatsApp messages sent by a journalist, seeking an exclusive interview. The Bengal cricketer is now making public his anguish after not being picked for the Test squad against Sri Lanka, at the center of the latest controversy in Indian cricket.
